Just a quick update, been really busy these past few days. I shall go into further detail in my next post. The weather is absolutely lovely at the moment. High heat, but also high humidity. Thankfully no migraine today. Our friend, J,  is here again working on the roof. J's decided to do the last long stretch of the roof in sessions this time. Of course with the heat and humidity, I've been outside most of the day keeping an eye on him.  Brad, my husband, is out there with him too and lugging shingles up the ladder. I've been on water detail, and taking food out most of the day. I did nip out for a bit to get the banking sorted out. Then I stopped into the grocery store to see if they had any watermelon, none to be had. That would have been the perfect snack to keep the guys hydrated with being out in the heat. While at the grocery store I made the mistake of getting a cart and looking around...argg, my cart was pretty full within just a few minutes. I did get some good deals on things for dinner this week though.

I wanted to try and add a pic or two to my post, but just couldn't get it work. I shall try again another time when I've got more time :)

Roofing

Yesterday, I didn't post and I'm already upset with myself over that. Instead, I stepped out to the Dollar store for a few things and then picked up a sub for dinner. Ever since I moved to Port Hope it's not often I buy dinner out just for myself. So, it really was a treat, a large Steak and Cheese sub. When I got home, I put the tv on and watched a few episodes of The Munsters Season 1 on DVD. Yes it's an old show, but still cracks me up.

Today, our friend is here doing another section of our roof. This is a never ending job so it seems and feels. Last week J came and stripped one whole side of the roof and then put up the ice/snow shield and shingled it all. My husband gets out there helping the best he can, handing up shingles, nails and so forth. I get out there and help clear away all the old shingles and put them in the back of hubby's pick up truck. It's just a hard job as J is up on the roof all by himself. We can't afford a roofing company, so we're doing sections as we can afford the materials. J donates his time to help us. Other than helping clear about the debris, I'm on lunch duty,  or making dinner or taking out bottles of water for them. I wish I could help more, but sadly I can't. And of course today is really hot and humid, so I keep going out to check on them. In a couple of weeks J will come back and do the last large section of the roof, and hopefully we're done with the this project for a few years. Also we've got a family member that is a mason (and will be giving us the family and friends discount) that will be coming in a couple of weeks to take down a large section of the chimney. We've had water leaking into the kitchen and after our mason had a look he too believes it's coming in because of the damaged chimney. There's not much point in rebuilding the chimney as we don't use it. We don't have a fireplace, we have gas heat and the pipes go out through the concrete wall of the house. In fact no one here uses their chimneys any longer. Should we decide to get a fireplace insert it would be either gas or electric.

So far I've managed to get the bathrooms cleaned, swiffered the floors, and 3 loads of laundry done. I've got one left to fold that are just about done in the dryer. The other two loads I've got hanging in the laundry to dry on their own. I've put in my request for a clothes line, so here's hoping that happens next summer here.

What a great way to start my day, seeing some DW messages in my email account. Was really great reading them while I was sitting out on the front porch with my morning coffee. Thank you to those that responded to my intro on the community https://addme.dreamwidth.org/ . I also reconnected with an old LJ friend here, Kristy, and am so glad to have her as part of my list on DW.  Plus another DW friend and I have reconnected here. I forgot how great it is to have a journal. Ever since Facebook hit, that pretty much seems to be the only place people hang out. Don't get me wrong I've had some great experiences using FB. In fact, that's how I found two half siblings I didn't know I had. The FB games have been good too. Just there's something about having an online journal that FB will never be able to compare to.

I was listening to this song earlier and so decided to post the lyrics. I love just about everything Bob Dylan has ever written. My favorite version of this song though is by Eric Clapton.

Born In Time

WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN
In the lonely night
In the blinking stardust of a pale blue light
You’re comin’ thru to me in black and white
When we were made of dreams

You’re blowing down the shaky street
You’re hearing my heart beat
In the record-breaking heat
Where we were born in time

Not one more night, not one more kiss
Not this time baby, no more of this
Takes too much skill, takes too much will
It’s revealing
You came, you saw, just like the law
You married young, just like your ma
You tried and tried, you made me slide
You left me reelin’ with this feelin’

On the rising curve
Where the ways of nature will test every nerve
You won’t get anything you don’t deserve
Where we were born in time

You pressed me once, you pressed me twice
You hang the flame, you’ll pay the price
Oh babe, that fire
Is still smokin’
You were snow, you were rain
You were striped, you were plain
Oh babe, truer words
Have not been spoken or broken

In the hills of mystery
In the foggy web of destiny
You can have what’s left of me
Where we were born in time

My three things for the day, I will from now on refer this this as my Elit3 of the day.

1. Sat outside with my spouse before he had to head in to work.

2. Drama free day.

3. Going to have dinner and watch "Fame" the original 1980s show on DVD.

Not a very productive day at all. Feeling a bit like a migraine is sitting in the background. Thankfully I did sleep well last night, so that is a good thing. Weather has been nice out all day, so I took the opportunity to sit out on the front step and have my mid morning coffee. Here's hoping tomorrow is just as nice out, perhaps I'll take a walk around outside.

In good news we were able to locate family that live in Florida and how they managed during the horrible hurricane. I feel so badly for all in the USA that are dealing with such chaos and fear. From what I read on facebook, many did evacuate and leave Florida. What do you do should you have no where to go? Sites did say there were a lot of shelters set up and help to get people there. That's a great thing. See just goes to show in time of crisis people do come together.

And here I am back at dreamwidth after a long break, I have deleted my old DW account under the name ravenabout as it's been dormant for a very long time. I've decided to start fresh and came up with a new username. Most of the stuff I am going to post, write, and share are just random events, thoughts, words.
